San Pedro│ Moon Valley │ Salar│ Highland lagoons│ Geysiers
Upon arrival at Calama airport, our transfer will take you to San Pedro de Atacama. It’s a colourful village in the middle of a green oasis at an altitude of 2,440 m above sea level. In the afternoon, you will be picked up at the hotel to enjoy the spectacular sunset in the Valley of the Moon.
In the morning we drive up to the plateau at an altitude of around 4,000 meters to visit the Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons below the mountain peaks of the same name. The colour of the dark blue water in combination with the white dams and the mountains in the background offer an unforgettable picture. We also visit the large Atacama Salt Lake, an inland lake that was created millions of years ago. The endless expanse and silence of this salt desert are simply overwhelming! This fascinating landscape is also home to numerous flamingo species. With spectacular photos in your luggage, you will now be brought back to your hotel in San Pedro.
Very early in the morning, before sunrise, you start the two-hour drive to the El Tatio geysers (4,300 m above sea level). It is the highest geyser field in the world and is a must for every San Pedro visitor. At dawn, hot water fountains and white steam clouds shoot from dozens of holes in the ground. Enjoy your breakfast – of course at a proper distance from the hot geysers – against this natural backdrop and then climb into one of the natural pools with warm thermal water (depending on the activity of the geysers). On the way back to San Pedro you will visit the picturesque village of Machuca with its red sandstone church at 3,400 m. You will be brought back to the hotel around noon; the afternoon is at your leisure.
Depending on your flight times, you will be transferred to the airport in Calama, where you will start your journey home.
